The Benefits Specialist at HealthEquity will work with the Benefits and Wellness Manager to continue to build HealthEquity’s standing as one of the Best Companies to Work For in Utah and as a leader in promoting consumer driven healthcare by crafting and managing a phenomenal benefits package for all eligible team members at HealthEquity.  As a team, we work to maximize HealthEquity’s benefits spend by ensuring the company is investing in the most impactful benefits, and that team members are wisely utilizing their benefits. 



You will have top to bottom ownership of managing and administering a portion of the plans offered as part of HealthEquity’s comprehensive benefits package.  High-level responsibilities of this function include contract management, plan setup, plan administration in our HRIS, enrollment discrepancies, and bill auditing.  In that, this role requires a well-organized professional with excellent problem-solving abilities and a passion for helping others to navigate and take full advantage of their benefits.  The position also requires flexibility and creativity in gathering and interpreting information and in translating that information into actionable items.


What you’ll be doing

  • Work with the team to craft the plan design details of the plans they are responsible for.
  • Manage benefit plan contracts, enrollment change requests and administration.
  • Manage claims invoices for self-funded plans.
  • Aid in administering COBRA benefits, FMLA and ADA.
  • Present benefits in New Hire Orientation and Open Enrollment.
  • Perform regular enrollment and billing audits.
  • Proactively anticipate and meet the team member needs.
  • Develops standardized reports from multiple systems to measure business and process improvements.
  • Analyze program impacts on Benefits Team overall objectives.
  • Analyze reports and develop implications and recommendations based on analyses.
  • Participate in team process documentation and improvement initiatives.
  • Create requirements, specifications, business processes, and recommendations that support “scaling the magic.”
  • Identify and document system deficiencies, then recommend and implement solutions.


What you will need to be successful

  • BA/BS degree required.
  • Must be proficient in Excel.
  • Strong PC skills including MS PowerPoint and Word.
  • Strong research, analytical problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • An understanding of healthcare and/or healthcare insurance is highly desirable.
  • Must be an assertive, project-oriented individual who can work with minimal supervision and who is solutions oriented.
  • Voracious appetite for learning.
  • 1-2 years Benefits Administration experience.
