Overview

We are BUILDING HEALTH SAVINGS.  Come be part of remarkable.

How you can make a difference

HealthEquity’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Team leads delivery of the firm’s ERM Program, which works—with teams firmwide—to manage (i.e., identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor) significant risks facing HealthEquity.  ERM sits alongside Corporate Compliance; the two comprise HealthEquity’s second line of defense.  The Senior Director, ERM, will lead the program and continue its overall maturation, reporting to the VP of Risk & Compliance.  Bringing significant financial risk management expertise and experience (e.g., with counterparty, credit, liquidity, interest rate, model risk experience; and knowledge of products to include fixed-income/group annuity contracts, etc.), the role is central to the success of the ERM program.

Under the general direction of and working closely with the VP of Risk & Compliance, the Senior Director will drive (with considerable latitude) the continued build-out and implementation of the ERM Program (through leadership of assessments and refinement of the enterprise risk register, risk appetite, key risk indicators/dashboard, etc.).  The Senior Director will liaise with senior and executive leadership firmwide, risk owners, external consultants (as necessary), supporting program delivery.  This role will require deep subject-matter expertise/experience; strong critical thinking and communication skills; and the ability to learn and absorb new content and navigate ambiguity as the ERM Team matures the overall ERM Program.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead maturation of programmatic elements (e.g., policies/standards/procedures; processes for risk identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring; risk register; risk appetite statement; risk acceptances; key risk indicators; reporting to management/board; etc.)
  • Leverage programmatic elements to mitigate risks to the firm
  • Conduct risk assessments on significant, complex risks (including modeling of risks to understand all parameters, worst case outcomes, etc.) and contribute to risk mitigation planning
  • Oversee testing and review to assure efficacy of risk mitigations
  • Brief leadership and the board on enterprise risks and program status
  • Engage leadership firmwide to enhance internal processes and champion continuous improvement in risk management
  • Align ERM program with annual strategic planning, budgeting, enterprise project prioritization, decision support, 10-K/Q risk identification, etc.
  • Build a strong collaborative relationship between ERM, Compliance, and Internal Audit teams
  • Manage day-to-day program operations
  • Manage personnel actions for direct reports and the ERM Team (e.g., hire/schedule; train/evaluate; coach/manage performance; make salary, merit, and other compensation recommendations; make recommendations and/or take corrective/disciplinary actions as appropriate)

What you will need to be successful

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., JD, MBA, PhD)
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) or demonstrable experience
  • 15+ years of experience in financial risk management, law, finance, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience working in a regulated financial services entity (e.g., bank, brokerage firm, investment advisor [institutional], or consulting firm focused on financial services, not least in enterprise risk)
  • Knowledge of and experience with risk-related regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX)
  • Public company experience favorable
  • Knowledge of and experience in financial risk management (e.g., with counterparty, credit, liquidity, interest rate, model risk experience; and knowledge of products to include fixed income/group annuity contracts, etc.)

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple competing deadlines
