How you can make a difference

 

The Principal Cloud Application Engineer is responsible for design, configuration, and just-in-time administration of corporate cloud-based applications at HealthEquity. Working collaboratively across internal departments and stakeholders such as Member Services, Client Services, Sales, Professional Services, Legal, Finance and Operations, this position will develop and document business processes and application system requirements. In addition, the incumbent will configure and test the applications to ensure the system meets the requirements and enables the business process, and will lead projects and other team members in enhancing and rolling out new functionality or introducing new user groups to the application.

 

What you’ll be doing 

  1. Designing and architecting cloud-based solutions within Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 services, ensuring that integration between on-premise and cloud systems, applications, and services facilitate a secure and efficient integration between platforms to drive value.
  2. Design and implementation of infrastructure solutions using Terraform or equivalent expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code tooling within Microsoft’s Azure cloud environment.
    Established best practices for version control and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline infrastructure provisioning and updates.
  3. Conduct regular reviews and audits of Terraform codebase to maintain consistency, adherence to standards, and compliance with security policies.
  4. Acted as a subject matter expert (SME) for Terraform and Azure cloud services, providing guidance and mentorship to team members and stakeholders.
  5. Providing regular detailed reports on the overall state of the cloud applications and services within the company, including security vulnerabilities, disaster recovery options, and enhancement opportunities.
  6. Maintain deep technical knowledge of Azure infrastructure and Microsoft 365 E5 features and capabilities, including platform, security and compliance, productivity, collaboration tools, and how they can provide value for the organization, with equivalent knowledge of applicable Azure services. Supporting the adoption, development, and usage of Microsoft cloud-based applications throughout the organization. Maintaining a high level of awareness of and enthusiasm as well as new features and updates as they are launched.
  7. Working with the various support teams on failover procedures, disaster recovery methods, and other business continuity objectives as it relates to cloud applications as it aligns with the corporate and departmental goals for redundancy and business continuity.
  8. Ensuring the configuration and security posture of cloud-based applications meet or exceed industry standards in partnership with HealthEquity security teams.
  9. Develop and execute migration and upgrade strategies for transitioning to Microsoft Azure infrastructure and Microsoft 365 services, including data migration, user onboarding, and decommissioning legacy systems.
  10. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, security, and business stakeholders, to ensure Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 E5 services meet business requirements and are aligned with the organization's strategic direction.
  11. Work with the business to understand their requirements and develop solutions that meet their specific needs as it relates to cloud-based applications within HealthEquity.
  12. Monitor and optimize the performance of Microsoft 365 and Azure services to ensure optimal resource utilization, cost-efficiency, and reliability
  13. Providing regular updates on future enhancements to IT leadership to drive innovation within the application environment as part of promoting a cloud-first initiative.
  14. Making suggestions to improve efficiency and effectiveness of procedures, processes, and tools where appropriate. This includes providing support to the development and periodic revision of procedures to ensure control and quality within the operations processes.

What you will need to be successful

  • Expert knowledge and understanding of business and technology as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in a business or technology related major or equivalent experience.
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft 365 E5 products and related Microsoft Azure services.
  • Exposure to various scripting and Infrastructure-as-Code languages, understanding of AGILE methodologies, and formal project management practices, theories, and processes is also preferred but not required. 
  • The ability and skill to provide troubleshooting and resolution for various systems as described as normally obtained through a minimum of 8 years of experience in an enterprise level cloud application engineering role with specific experience in Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Compliance, Microsoft Purview, and related Windows Server 2012-2022, Exchange Online, and SharePoint Online.
  • Experience should include utilization of Terraform or equivalent Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) technology, deployment in CI/CD pipelines through experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub. Cloud based conditional access security configurations, DLP, and on-premise to web-based migrations as well as enterprise level database driven applications and single-sign on authentication.
  • Microsoft technical certifications are preferred.
  • PowerShell experience is required.
  • Experience in geo diverse working environments, mergers, and acquisitions, are a plus.

Salary Range

$127000.00 To $170,000.00 / year

The actual compensation offer is determined based on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, and work location.
